The cultivation of language and speech occupies a prominent place in the preschool education of the child. Especially, in kindergarten and pre-kindergarten, an extremely important effort is made with appropriate material and activities, so that the children have a smooth transition to the next level of education. For this reason, we encourage them to tell stories, discuss with each other and with their teachers, describe events of their daily lives. Thus, they slowly enrich their vocabulary and the reading process is aided through the visualization of words and phrases. However, apart from the spoken word, special importance is given to the written word as well. Gradually, children, through creative and imaginative plays, learn to distinguish the letters and their voices pronunciation, the capital from the lower-case letters, as well as write their name or the name of their friend in both Greek and English.
